sport ethics curriculum and Optimist Football
complex expansion will benefit
BOISE, Idaho, Sept. 23, 2005 – Boise’s World Sports
Humanitarian Hall of Fame (www.sportshumanitarian.com),
which promotes humanitarian ideals in amateur and
professional athletics, has raised $9,000 through
its annual Fantasy to Reality Football Raffle.
Over 2,500 tickets were sold throughout the Treasure
Valley for the 2005 raffle, which concluded Aug. 27
with the Optimist Youth Football Jamboree at Bronco
Stadium. Proceeds will benefit a new sports ethics
curriculum at Boise State University and will help
the Treasure Valley Optimist Youth Football program
expand their football complex in Boise.
Raffle winners received trips to a number of
prominent sporting events around the U.S. including
the ESPN Heisman Trophy Announcement Ceremony in
New York
and the BCS National Championship Game at the Rose
Bowl.
“We’re ecstatic with the generosity of the Boise
community,” said Kim Seewald, executive director of
the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame who’s
inductees include tennis
great Arthur Ashe, major league baseball pioneer
Jackie Robinson, NFL coaching legend Tom Landry, the
NBA’s David Robinson, and soccer great Pelé.
“This will go a long way to improving the Optimist
Football complex and to support BSU’s new sports
ethics curriculum.”
Beginning this fall, the new certificate program in
sports ethics, coaching and humanitarian studies
will offer credit and non-credit courses through
Boise State’s Department of Kinesiology in
collaboration with the
University of
Idaho and Idaho State University. The program was
developed with the support of the Humanitarian Hall
of Fame.
Top raffle winners included Brent Koetter of Boise
who received tickets and airfare to the ESPN Heisman
Announcement Ceremony in New York City and Tony
Saras of Meridian who received mid-field seats to
this year’s BCS Championship Game at the Rose Bowl.
Other raffle winners included Lonnie Park of McCall
who won a trip to the Sept. 3 Boise State - Georgia
game in Atlanta, and Jack Helm of Boise who won a
trip to the Sept. 3 Texas Christian - Oklahoma game
in Norman. Dave and Jean Croft of Eagle were
winners of tickets to the Sept. 17 Tennessee -
Florida game in Gainesville and Brian Nyland of
Boise was the winner of tickets to a Dallas Cowboys
home or away game of his choice.

Boise, Idaho, recognizes individuals and
organizations from the world of amateur and
professional athletics who, through their
humanitarian efforts, distinguish themselves as role
models in the community.
Since 1994 over thirty role models with world-class athletic
ability and exceptional humanitarian achievements
have been inducted to the World Sports Humanitarian
Hall of Fame. Each spring the induction ceremony
includes recipients of an annual humanitarian awards
program that recognizes community achievement in all
corners of the sporting world through its
President’s Award, Pro Team Community Award, Don
Simplot Idaho Humanitarian Award, the Tradition of
Excellence Award presented to a Heisman Trophy
winner, and the Nell and John Wooden Humanitarian
Lifetime Coaching Achievement Award. Each year the
Hall of Fame, in partnership with
Boise’s MPC Computers Bowl, honors a player from
each team with its Student Humanitarian Award. The
World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is open
weekdays to visitors and humanitarians of all ages.
