BOISE, Idaho, May 25,
2007 -- The World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame (www.SportsHumanitarian.com)
announced on Friday that legendary Boise State
University football coach Lyle Smith and his wife
Eleanor have been named recipients of the
prestigious Nell and John Wooden Lifetime Coaching
Achievement Award.
The Wooden Award, which recognizes the personal
philosophy of legendary UCLA basketball coach John
Wooden, is presented annually by the World Sports
Humanitarian Hall of Fame to a coach along with his
or her spouse who has made exceptional contributions
to their players and their futures.

In addition, the Boise Hall
has recognized International Special Olympics Founder
Eunice Kennedy Shriver with its Founder’s Award and
Humanitarian Bowl chairman and Idaho Board of Education
member Milford Terrell with its Idaho Award. The
humanitarian awards will be presented at the Hall’s 13th
annual induction ceremonies June 20 in Boise.
“Through athletics and life, Lyle and Eleanor Smith have
forged deep and meaningful relationships within Idaho’s
communities,” said Larry Maneely, Board President of the
World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame. “The trust and
guidance that they established through the discipline of
athletics has positively shaped the lives of many of
Idaho’s leaders in government, private industry and
academics. The state of Idaho is a better place because
of Lyle and Eleanor Smith.”
The 2007 World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremonies take place Wednesday, June 20 in
