Chi-Chi Rodriguez, one of the greatest showmen in sports history and four time PGA tournament champion, was inducted into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame as a part of the Class of 1994, which included tennis great Arthur Ashe and Olympic decathlete Rafer Johnson.
Born in Rio Piedras, Rodriguez's remarkable four decade athletic career includes 22 Senior PGA Tour victories and 8 regular PGA Tours. His passion for golf began at the age of six when he became a caddy and learned how to play golf with clubs made out of guava tree limbs. Despite obstacles and humble beginnings, he shot a 67 at the age of 12 and developed tremendous technical and creative golf skills. Rodriguez's passion and drive made him one of the greatest golf showmen, and the first Latino to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Chi Chi Rodriguez's impact goes beyond the golf course. Chi Chi is dedicated to assisting youth and is committed to creating a positive role model for children. Through his Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation based in Clearwater, Florida, he has helped create a haven for troubled and abused children. Dedicating countless hours to "Chi Chi's kids", Chi Chi has demonstrated that he is not only one of golf's greatest players, but also a devoted youth advocate.
