Kevin Johnson, a three-time NBA All-Star and tireless advocate of educational, economic and social development of inner-city communities, was inducted into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame as a part of the Class of 1997, which included football great Kip Keino, and Olympic runner Billy Mills.
Kevin Johnson began his professional career as a point guard with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he played in 1987 and 1988 before being traded to the Phoenix Suns. He spent the remainder of his career with the Suns, becoming s three time All-Star. Johnson remains one of only four players in NBA history to have averaged 20 points and 10 assists per game.
Today, Johnson is active in politics and manages his St. HOPE organization, a non-profit group which aims encourages educational, economic, and social development in inner-city communities. Johnson has founded six other non-profit affiliates of St. HOPE, all of which work together towards achieving the same inner-city objectives.
