BOISE -- Angelo Dundee, the legendary trainer who groomed boxing greats Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, and member of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame’s selection committee, has died.

Dundee is remembered by the Boise-based Humanitarian Hall for representing boxing among its selection committee of sports icons. He passed way Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at his home in Tampa. He was 90.

“It was a real honor to have Angelo Dundee among our family. He was a wonderful human being and fit our mission perfectly as an ambassador of boxing and sport,” said Myron Finkbeiner, founder of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame who was asked by the International Boxing Hall of Fame to consider Dundee as the Humanitarian Hall’s boxing representative following the passing of Floyd Patterson in 2006. “Everything just clicked with us from our first conversation. We talked as though we had known each other for years. He was just that kind of person," he said. "We will miss Angelo.”
